BSP SUPPORTS THE DOH AGAINST INFLUENZA A(H1N1) VIRUS

BSP Officials and representatives attended an orientation about the novel virus Influenza A(H1N1) last May 25, 2009 from 9am to 12nn at the Secretary Francisco Q. Duque Jr. Health Information Center, Department of Health, San Lazaro Compound, Sta.Cruz, Manila.

Attendees to the orientation were from different GO's and NGO's, Faith-based Organizations, Food Companies, Bookstores, NLEX, Insurance Companies and other representatives from the Business Sector. The Program started with an invocation and followed by welcome remarks by the Department of Health Secretary himself Hon. Francisco T. Duque III. The orientation proper and basic facts on Influenza A(H1N1) were delivered by Dr. Lyndon Lee Suy, Program Manager, IDO-NCDPC. After the orientation, Dr. Asuncion M. Anden facilitated the open forum where several questions were raised by different representatives.

After the Open Forum, the facilitator asked each of the representatives on what were the things they could do to contribute and help the DOH in informing the public and prevent the outbreak of Influenza A(H1N1) virus. Most of the attendees have committed to disseminate the information by conducting orientation seminars to their respective offices and companies. The BSP have committed to disseminate the information to the field by the issuance of a National Office Memorandum informing the National, Regional, and Local Council Staff as well as the Scouts and Adult Leaders as well as posting the basic facts in the web site since it is the fastest way of information dissemination.
