The Boy Scouts of the Philippines announced yesterday the winners of the recently held search for the outstanding Scoutmasters.

The ten winners were honored at a special ceremony held during the 52nd Annual National Council meeting in Tagaytay City.

The winners were chosen from among the number of nominees from the 109 local councils of the BSP.

Secretary General J. Rizal C. Pangilinan said the candidates underwent rigid scrutiny from the panel of judges composed of volunteers and select officers of the BSP.

Pangilinan said the winners were mostly teachers who have been serving as Scoutmasters in their respective schools.

"These Scoutmasters spend most of their lives caring for children not their own. They grow with the boys under their care with intent of bringing the best in them," Pangilinan said.

He said the winners "will join countless of unsung heroes who deserve accolades from their fellow Filipinos."

The search, now on its 14th year, is sponsored by Pascual Laboratories, Inc.

This year's winners are: Ruben V. Adolfo, Camarines Sur Council; Jowe Leonilo M. Bautista, Mindoro Oriental Council; Nelson D. Bernardo, Leyte Council; Carlito C. Florendo, Isabela Council; Benjamin P. Oliveros, Quezon Council; Ester E. Panaligan, Batangas City Council; Rudolph S. Paqueo, Cebu Council; Amorsolo R. Pulido, Eastern Pangasinan Council; Rosauro C. Tabian, Tarlac Council; Nestor B. Versoza, Davao City.

"The Scoutmasters are the life and soul of the Scouting Movement, without these noble men and women there could be no Scouting," BSP national president Jejomar C. Binay in congratulating the winners said. Reference: BSP-Public Relations (Mayet, Egay, Ysell)527-5104
