Boy Scouts of the Philippines President Jejomar C. Binay has been chosen by the Singapore Scout Association as recipient of the Silver Lion Award, the highest award conferred by the association to any individual.
The award said Nicholas Tang Ning, Chief SSA commissioner, in his letter to the BSP, is given to Binay for his contributions to Scouting movement and for strengthening the relationship between the BSP and the SSA.
Binay is also the committee chairman of the World Scout Organization Asia-Pacific Region, the highest Scouting position in the Asia Pacific Regions whose membership counts to more than 11 million boy scouts from at least 21 member-countries.
Binay has also been the recipient of various international awards like the Chairman's award given by the Asia Pacific Region Scout Committee in 1998; distinguished Service Cross Award, conferred by the Scouts Association of Hong Kong in 2002; First Class of Boy Scouts Citation Medal, awarded by the Chief Scout of Thailand, His Majesty King Rama IX in 2006; and the APR Award for Distinguished Service granted by the World Organization of the Scout Movement-Asia Pacific Region in 2006. Locally, Binay is a recipient of the Golden Tamaraw Award, the highest award in the BSP.
The investiture ceremony for the award will be officiated by the SSA Chief Scout HE S R Natan in May 2008 in Singapore.
